"Imagination is more important than knowledge"
Born and raised in the Chicago suburb of Downers Grove, my interest in creating videos spawned at the young age of 10 years old, when I picked up a skateboard and video camera for the first time. As an interest quickly grew into a hobby, I found myself behind the camera more often than on the board (probably because of a now 6'5" frame and high center of gravity) and inadvertently took the 'filmer' role of the group.
When high school came around I was fortunate enough to have the opportunity to take a TV/Video class, where I could refine this hobby of mine into somewhat of a usable skill with the accessibility to better equipment. These were the classes that I looked forward to everyday, the ones I would spend my study hall hours in working on perfecting a video instead of doing other class work, the ones I knew I would excel in. These weren't core requirements that proved just how average I could be, like nearly every other class. There were no lectures, no boring days, no homework. Yes, I had projects and workloads to take home and complete outside of class, but never once was any of it work. It was far too fun to be considered that.
I enrolled at Tribeca Flashpoint College in 2014 and was finally in a place where I could not only learn how to turn a skill into a career, but learn the ins and outs of a production as a whole. During my tenure at Tribeca I prioritized my efforts on post production, and uncovered a burning fervor for the storytelling process that is editing. As a strongly emotional person myself, the deep emotional connection that one can develop through simply watching a few minutes of a well told story is something I appreciate more than almost anything. My goal is to make the story flow smoothly and effortlessly, and be convincing enough that it allows the viewer to be so intimately invested in the story that you forget you're even watching a movie.
